Clearcheck’s goal is to enforce server rules while minimizing unnecessary data collection.

To be fully transparent about our mod, below is a list of the data that your client shares to a server using Clearcheck!

Clearcheck is fully open source. You can inspect the client and server implementation to see exactly what information is collected and transmitted.

Firstly, Is Clearcheck safe?​

Common question, quick summary of this page:

Clearcheck does not send your data to any Clearcheck-operated server.
Clearcheck communicates only with the Minecraft servers you choose to join.
Clearcheck never receives this information itself, and it does not collect, sell, or monetize your data.
Because the receiving Minecraft server controls the data after it is sent, only use Clearcheck on servers you trust.

All data transmitted by clearcheck*​

  • Your OS and OS version
  • Your set operating-system username — the username for your local OS account. You can opt-out, learn more.
  • Your saved token only for the server you're connecting to (learn more about tokens and how they benefit you) (NOT to be confused with the Minecraft Account token)
  • Your available resource/texture packs (includes name, filename, pack asset metadata) (Clearcheck does not transmit the contents of resource packs)
  • Your loaded Mods (including their display names, filenames, mod IDs, and versions)
  • Other diagnostic information, such as hashes and integrity checks, may be transmitted to determine whether the client is reporting correctly.

Who sees your data​

Clearcheck itself does not operate a data-collection server. Clearcheck does not receive this data; the Minecraft server administrator does.
Clearcheck sends its verification data directly to the Minecraft server you are connected to using Minecraft/NeoForge’s networking mechanisms. You should consider the trustworthiness of the servers you choose to join.

Data retention​

Servers may temporarily or indefinitely retain, log or hold on to some information outlined, sent from clients. A server may retain information associated with a failed verification attempt for security purposes. Server operators may also retain or process this information using their own systems, which are outside Clearcheck’s control.

Opt-out features​

You can opt-out from the following features in the instance client config:
- Sharing your operating-system username

Keep in mind that this may make you more likely to be flagged by server owners.

Legal & responsibility​

Clearcheck is provided "as is", without guarantees that it will be suitable for every server, or use case. Clearcheck provides the software and protocol used to perform verification. Individual server administrators are responsible for configuring their servers and for handling information received from Clearcheck in accordance with applicable laws. Please choose wisely which servers connect to and who to trust with your data. Clearcheck does not control how server operators use or retain information received through the mod.

By connecting to a server that uses Clearcheck, information described on this page may be transmitted to that server, depending on its configuration and the features it uses. Clearcheck does not transmit data to any external service or server operated by the Clearcheck project.

If you believe Clearcheck is transmitting information unnecessarily, unexpectedly, or in a way that could expose sensitive or personally identifiable information (PII), please contact us so we can investigate.

*Some information may not be applicable for all cases and Config values. The exact information transmitted depends on the server configuration and the features being used and version of the mod.
