About tokens
Introduction
Clearcheck stores tokens on your computer outside of the minecraft instance. This allows you to join offline or even online servers that use this mod without logging in each time. This allows Clearcheck to authenticate you without requiring you to log in each time.
Each token is only for one specific Clearcheck-enabled server. No one else sees your token, not Clearcheck and not even the server admins themselfs. Servers only store signatures of your tokens. It only sits on your computer locally and gets sent to server only for verification.
In game screen
In the Multiplayer screen, there can be found a little button next to the Edit button. Clicking this brings you to the Clearcheck servers tokens screen. Here, you can easily see what servers use the Clearcheck token registration and when was the token generated. Also buttons to open your Clearcheck Folder.
Clearcheck Folder
When you install Clearcheck mod, under your name on your computer, it will create a folder clearcheck in its own directory:
Windows
usually:
C:\Users\*USER_NAME*\AppData\Roaming\clearcheck
Mac
/Users/*USER_NAME*/Library/Application Support/clearcheck
Other (linux)
/home/*USER_NAME*/.config/clearcheck
Your Clearcheck folder contains tokens.json, which stores the tokens used to authenticate you with Clearcheck-enabled servers.
- It is heavily recommended to NOT edit or delete your tokens! Once you change your token, even slightly, the server will reject you and you will be unable to join the server without oustide assistance.
- Do not share your tokens with anyone! Anyone who obtains your token may be able to authenticate as you on servers that use that token.
Play on multiple computers?
No problem! You may need to share tokens between them. Once a token is generated for a server, you may copy it to the another computer's Clearcheck Folder to join. However, tokens are sensitive credentials, so only transfer them between computers you control.
